Question by Pamela H: What kind of granite countertops would look good with slate flooring tile?
Doing a new construction house and have China Multi Color slate tiles going down on the floor, and dark espresso cabinets going in. I want granite countertops but I want it to complement the slate floor but not over power the slate since the slate already has a lot of variation. I don’t like granites that are heavy on the speckles and look “busy”, but I have no clue what will work. I’m open to suggestions.

Take one of your tiles and even a cabinet door into the nearest home improvement. Hold your stuff up against the samples in the store till you find something you like. You don’t even have to buy it there, just find and make note of the material and color and then shop for the best price online and in area stores.

All the wood in my house (chair railings, cabinetry) is a dark maple color. I love cypress flooring, but am not sure if that would match. Also, the house is about 3,000 sq ft. What would be an estimated cost. Anyone know of a good contractor in Dallas to do this kind of work? Sorry for the long question.

The commercial is a family watching a scary movie and the dog gets scared, pees and runs off. It’s a cute little dog and has a pug/bulldog like face but I don’t think it’s either one of those? It seems like it’s some kind of terrier?
